OnlyFans Creator Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison Over Client's Death
A California judge has sentenced an adult content creator to four years in state prison after she pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter following a fatal physical encounter in 2023.
A California judge sentenced adult content creator Michaela Rylaarsdam to four years in prison on Monday after she pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The sentencing concludes a legal case stemming from an April 2023 incident where a 55 year old client died during a paid physical encounter at his Escondido home.
Michael Dale paid Rylaarsdam 11,000 dollars for a session involving extreme physical restrictions. During the encounter, Rylaarsdam placed a plastic bag, plastic wrap, and duct tape over his head while his limbs were restrained. Medical examiners determined Dale was unable to breathe for several minutes before Rylaarsdam contacted emergency services. Medical personnel declared Dale brain dead the following day.
During her sentencing at the San Diego Superior Court, Rylaarsdam apologized directly to the victim's family, stating, "There are no words. 'I'm sorry' is not enough. The desire to go back and undo this would be at the top." The defense attorney for Rylaarsdam argued the death was accidental, stating, "There was no intent to kill and no attempt to cover this up. She acted appropriately when she realized this was a problem." Prosecutors maintained that the physical actions taken by the defendant directly resulted in the fatality.
This case has tested the legal boundaries of consent in extreme adult encounters. Law enforcement officials noted that while Dale explicitly requested and paid for the session, prior consent to dangerous physical acts does not eliminate criminal liability when those actions cause death. The incident originally led to a murder charge before prosecutors agreed to a plea deal for involuntary manslaughter.
Rylaarsdam, a 32 year old married mother of three, will serve her four year sentence in a California state prison facility. The court proceedings have officially ended with her guilty plea and the judge's final mandate.
